In a long-awaited showdown steeped in family legacy and personal rivalry, Chris Eubank Jr. defeated Conor Benn by unanimous decision on Saturday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. All three judges scored the bout 116-112 in favor of Eubank Jr., handing Benn the first loss of his professional career.
The middleweight clash, dubbed “Fatal Fury,” was more than just a fight—it was the culmination of a decades-long feud between the sons of British boxing legends Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn, who famously fought to a draw in 1993. Originally scheduled for 2022 but postponed due to Benn’s failed drug test, the bout finally materialized before a crowd of 65,000 fans.
Benn started aggressively, pressing the action early and landing several powerful shots that tested Eubank Jr.’s defense. However, Eubank Jr.’s experience and composure began to show in the middle rounds, as he utilized precise combinations and uppercuts to gain control. The fight intensified in the later rounds, with both fighters exchanging heavy blows, but Eubank Jr.’s tactical approach ultimately secured his victory.
Despite suffering a cut above his right eye from an accidental clash of heads in the ninth round, Eubank Jr. finished the fight strongly. He was taken to the hospital afterward as a precaution, but appeared in good spirits.
The emotional climax of the evening came when Eubank Jr. was joined in the ring by his father, Chris Eubank Sr., marking a poignant moment of reconciliation between the two.
With this win, Eubank Jr. improves his record to 35-3, while Benn falls to 23-1. Given the intensity and competitiveness of the bout, a rematch later this year is a strong possibility.
